The National Collection Glade

Between the Visitor Center and the Pond there is a wide path which goes through the National Collection Glade. The objective is to highlight each of the National Collection plants so an example of each is found along the pathway. There are 13 National Collections at the gardens: Carpinus (Hornbeams), Cercidiphyllum (Katsura), Cornus (Dogwoods), Corylus (Hazels), Cotoneaster, Hamamelis (Witchhazels), Ligustrum (Privets), Lithocarpus (Stone or Tanbark Oak), Metasequoia (Dawn Redwood), Photinia (Christmas Berry), Pinus (Pines), Quercus (Oaks) and finally the Hillier Collection which includes all those plants raised or named by Hillier Nurseries or the Hillier Gardens.
