Other garden areas

Because of the rain we did not venture down to the Lake Field which had been restored in 2000. The lake has a small island with a pineapple topped birdcage connected by a bridge to the field. We did see the start (or end) of the garden of Five Bridges which is a long corridor of gardens on the banks of two narrow winding streams. The five bridges, "with a chinoiserie inspired design," cross the streams and support Wisteria vines (Wisteria floribunda 'Alba') as well as blue and white Clematis.
