Family: Caprifoliaceae

Genus: Abelia

Parent: Abelia parvifolia

Category: Shrub - Deciduous

Zones: 7 to 9

Size: 3' tall and wide

Growth Rate: Moderate

Exposure: Sun, Filtered Sun, Part Shade

Description:

Long flowering, pinkish, tubular flowers, slightly fragrant. Light shade and moist soil preferred.

History:

From Europe. Often sold as Abelia schumannii 'Bumblebee'.

My Experience:

I purchased a 4" pot from Bluestone Perennials in May 2011 and planted it by the pool fence on the perennial bed side. It dwindled and in August I potted it up and put it in the conservatory to try and strengthen it. Still not much growth by Spring 2012. I planted it in the One Of Everything, it struggled so I moved it in spring 2013 to the new raised bed where it died.
