History:

From patent application:

The new Acalypha originated is a naturally-occurring branch mutation of a proprietary selection of Acalypha godseffiana 'Firestorm', not patented. The new Acalypha was discovered and selected by the Inventor on a single plant within a population of plants of 'Firestorm' in a controlled greenhouse environment in Bonsall, Calif. in 2003.

Sold as the species Acalypha godseffiana but that name is a heterotypic synonym of Acalypha wilkesiana.

My Experience:

I purchased this at a sale at Cold Creek in June 2010. I kept it outside in a pot but it dried out too much so I put it in the conservatory. It came back with less variegation. Still trying to figure out what is interesting about it - maybe the leaf shape but it certainly isn't extraordinary. It fizzled out and died from neglect in the pot.
