Description: 

Opposite leaves, 3 to 5 lobes. Irregular rounded crown in maturity but pyramidal in youth. Autumn color variable, from yellow to orange or red. Red flowers in clusters in late winter. Native to wet sites but tolerates a range of soils. Good shade tree.

History: 

Native to Eastern USA, East Canada
