Rounded crown. 3 to 5 loves on the leaves, lobes triangular, wavy margins, green above, yellow-grey below, downy underneath - ID characteristic. Yellow autumn color. Light colored bark gives the tree its common name - chalk. Well-drained soil.
Native from Florida to Virginia.
