Divided, compound leaves. Leaflets deeply saw-toothed. White flowers in globular clusters at the leaf axils or stem ends in spring. Red berries on red stems. Moist, well-drained soil. Rabbit resistant (Oudolf).

Native to Russia, China and Japan, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Canada, northern, central and southwestern US.
