Description: 

Light blue star-like flowers in spring. Willow-like, dull green leaves. May have good yellow autumn color. Differs from the species in having less erect stems and narrower leaves. Well-drained soil, loamy, moist. May need staking in shady locations. Easy to grow and maintain (Oudolf).

History: 

Published in Ann. Missouri Bot. Gard. 15: 406 in 1928.

Basionym Amsonia salicifolia Pursh.

Native to the eastern US. A naturally occurring variation.
