Description: 

Upright and clump forming, warm season grass. Leaves are green to blue-green, 1/2" wide and up to 20" long. Autumn color is orange to red. Flowers in late summer, purplish red. Darke says they resemble "an upside-down turkey foot." Prefers moist sites. Freely self seeds.

History:

Native to the US and Canada, Belize, Costa Rica, Honduras and Mexico.
