Size: To 50' tall
Alternate oval leaves to 5" long, bright green and leathery. Spreading round crown. White flowers with pink at the base of the sepal followed by fruit that looks like a green apple, aromatic.
Published in Sp. Pl. 1: 537 in 1753.
Lectotype = "Anona maxima, foliis latis fructu maximo luteo conoide, cortice glabro" in Catesby's Natural History Volume 2 Page 64, Plate 64 in 1738.
Native to Florida and the Caribbean, Mexico and South America.
Synonym Annona palustris L.
