Description: 

Dark green, shiny, evergreen foliage which is almost prickly to the touch, to 30" long, hairs near the base. Leaflets to 6/100" long. Spreads by rhizomes. Prefers moist soil in part shade.

History: 

Published in Contr. New South Wales Natl. Herb. 3: 89 in 1961.

Basionym is Polypodium aristatum G.Forst.

Synonym Aspidium aristatum (G.Forst.) Sw.

Native to Australia, New Zealand, Africa and the Pacific Islands.

'Aristata' means bearded or with an awn.
