Description: 

Deep, rich soil preferred. Does not like wet feet. White flowers and red berries - grown more for the berries than the flowers. Deer resistant. Dark green serrated leaves. Considered a pest in frost-free parts of Florida.

Native to China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Philippines.

My Experience: 

I purchased a 1-gallon plant from Nurseries Caroliniana in November 2009 and kept it in the conservatory for the first two winters. The berries have been spectacular. In late winter 2012 I planted it in the 'Almost Shade Garden'.
