Description:

Upright linear shiny evergreen fronds that form a clump. Curling tips and wavy edges. Keep soil moist and avoid direct sun. Overwinter inside.

History:

Native to rainforests in tropical southeast Asia. Published in Sp. Pl. 2: 1079 in 1753.

My Experience:

I bought a 4" pot at Callaway Gardens in April 2009 and planted it in the courtyard raised beds in the summer. I potted it up again for the winter and kept it on the kitchen window. After another summer in the ground, in autumn 2010 it was too big for the kitchen window and has to be in the conservatory.
