Description: 

Narrow leaves. Large, lilac, daisy-like flowers in late summer. Species collapses but cultivars are sturdier. Attractive to butterflies and rabbit resistant (Oudolf).

Cultivars: 

'Rose Erfullung' - Pink flowers with yellow centers. 'Sonora' - Dark purple flowers with yellow centers.

History: 

Published in Sp. Pl. 2: 873 in 1753.

Native to temperate Asia including Turkey and Russia, and southern and eastern Europe.
