Description: 

Hillier describes it as .. one of the finest of all flowering shrubs. Dark green shiny leaves with 3 points. Bright orange drooping flowers in clusters in spring. Not waterlogged soil.

History: 

Published in Hooker's Icon. Pl. 7: 672 in 1844.

Native to Chile and Argentina.

Discovered by Charles Darwin in 1835 on the voyage of the Beagle I. Introduced in 1849 by William Lobb.

RHS Award of Garden Merit in 2002, 1993 and First Class Certificate in 1967.
