Description: 

Arching branches with willow-like habit and lance-shaped leaves (greyish below). Can be a vigorous spreader. Flowers on old growth so plants should not be cut back, unlike other Buddleja species. Blooms are purple-lilac in clusters along the leaf axils in spring.

History: 

Published in Bull. Acad. Imp. Sci. Saint-Pétersbourg 3: 26: 494 in 1880.
