My Experience:

Purchased from Nurseries Caroliniana in August 2008 as a 1-gallon and potted up to a 3-gallon until planting in the ground in summer 2010. The plant is smaller than the species but still has an untidy splaying habit. I first planted Adonis Blue in the front garden but decided that it was too unruly and moved it to the back in autumn 2010. It suffered a lot from the transplanting so I cut it way back and it slowly reappeared over the spring and summer 2011. It did not leaf out in spring 2012 and without much remorse I dug it up.
