Description: 

Willow-like leaves, hence the name, opposite, simple, dark green. White to cream flowers in clusters in summer. Fast-growing screening plant.

History: 

Published in Enum. Pl. (Willdenow) 1: 159 in 1809.

Synonym Buddleja salicifolia Jacq. published in Pl. Rar. Hort. Schoenbr. 1: 12 t. 29 in 1797 - from PlantList - why would it not be the accepted name since published first? Further research shows that Willd. listed it as a synonym of B. saligna. Buddleja salicifolia Vahl was published in Symb. Bot. (Vahl) 3: 14 in 1794 which predates Jacq. making his a later homonym. B. salicifolia Vahl is a synonym of Buddleja thyrsoides Lam.

Native to South Africa, Swaziland and Zimbabwe.
