Family: Scrophulariaceae

Genus: Buddleja

Parent: Buddleja x weyeriana

Category: Shrub - Evergreen

Zones: 5 to 9

Size: 8 to 10' tall and wide

Growth Rate: Fast

Exposure: Sun

Description:

Purple buds, lavender-purple flowers with orange eye. Attractive to bees and butterflies.

History:

Introduced by Dr. Dirr from a seedling of the cultivar 'Honeycomb'. Probably a cross with Buddleja davidii.

My Experience:

I purchased a 1-gallon plant (although barely a 1-gallon, probably a 4" plant potted up the week before!) at Thyme after Thyme in April 2010. I planted it in the front garden and it grew to about 4' tall and wide in the first season. Branches were fairly upright and covered in flowers throughout the summer.
