I purchased a 1-gallon plant from Nurseries Caroliniana in October 2009 and potted it to a 2-gallon size pot. My intention is to use this to try my hand at making a topiary, specifically one with pom poms! In spring 2010 I selected the branches to keep and cut off the foliage to reveal the branches, leaving a few leaves at the ends. The branches were quite soft at first but became more woody over the summer as I continued to remove foliage.
