Published in Jard. Malmaison 56 in 1804.

Basionym of Dimorphotheca chrysanthemifolia (Vent.) DC.

Also published in Bot. Reg. 1: 40 in 1815.

From Bot. Reg. Monsieur Ventenat, by whom it was first made known, considers the species as partaking of both Ostespermum and Calendula... Native of the Cape of Good Hope, from whence it was introduced by Mr. Masson in 1790. Till lately usually known among our gardeners by the name of Othonna grandiflora.
