Description: 

Small leaves less than 1/8" long, scale-like, opposite. Pink flowers in late summer to autumn in clusters. Need bright winter sun to get good foliage color. Need good drainage and hate lime. In heat and humidity it is best to plant only the taller varieties as the low ones are more susceptible to fungal diseases. Difficult to grow.

Cultivars: 

'Alexandra' - compact form to 20" tall and wide, dark leaves and crimson buds.

Native to the Azores, Morocco, Turkey, Russia, and most of Europe.
