Description: 

Pink or white flowers with 7 petals. Some are prostrate or spreading in form.

Cultivars: 

'Showa-No-Sakae' ('Usubeni') - pink flowers.

History: 

First published in J. Jap. Bot. 16(12): 695 in 1940. Thought to be an old hybrid from China of Camellia sasanqua and Camellia japonica. Named for a Japanese garden plant.
