Description: 

Amazing 'fishtail' leaves. Pink flower with yellow stamens.

History: 

Sold as Camellia japonica var. quercifolia but no record of such a variety found in Tropicos or PlantList. Selected and introduced by Piroche Plants in 1994 (Canada).

My Experience: 

I purchased a 1-gallon plant from Nurseries Caroliniana in November 2010 and planted it in the back garden near the path so we can see the fishtail leaves up close. I covered it during cold spells to protect it since it was so recently planted.

My plant was a cutting from a large stock plant that the nursery received by accident in a shipment of white-flowering plants.
