Description: 

Often sold as Carex ciliatomarginata Nakai. Likes moisture and prefers some shade. Spreads slowly by rhizomes. Deciduous. Short, wide blades, upright like the foliage of Lily of the Valley but not so broad. Cool season grass.

Cultivars: 

'Variegata' - white marginal variegation on relatively broad, short leaves.

'Banana Boat' - from Terra Nova - yellow variegated form from Japan.

'Island Brocade' - also from Japan - yellow marginal variegation, broader leaves than the species, bolder variegation than 'Variegata'
