Description: 

Two leaves, leathery. Long-lived flowers, various colors.

History: 

Published in Coll. Bot. (Lindley) 37 in 1826.

Native to Brasil and Paraguay.

Also published in Dict. Icon. Orchid. Cattleya plate 18 in 1899.

Relatives: 

Hybridizing Characteristics: 

Spring blooms and small to medium size. Dominant in flower color, size, habit, number of flowers, shape and small lip. Often fine spots on sepals and petals. Vigorous, often bloom twice yearly. (Hereditary Influences of the Cattleya Alliance - AOS.org)
