Description:

History: 

Published in Gard. Chron., ser. 3 5: 802 in 1889.

Basionym Cymbidium violaceum Kunth.

Synonym Cattleya superba M.R.Schomb. ex Lindl.

Native to Colombia, Venezuela, Guiana, Brazil, Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador.

Also published in Dict. Icon. Orchid. Cattleya plate 28 in 1901.
