Description: 

Tolerates clay soil.Blue to purple flowers in summer. Spreads by rhizomes. Prefers afternoon shade in hot climates. Not wet or poorly drained soil.

History: 

Published in Enum. Pl. Chin. Bor. 55 in 1833.

Native to China.

My Experience: 

I purchased a 4" pot from Santa Rosa in June 2013 and planted it in the Five Trees Garden. It performed reasonably well. It disappeared in winter 2014 but started to return in April.
