Description: 

Alternate, lustrous, dark green leaves. Blooms in winter, before the leaves flush, bright flowers along the branches in shades from pink to red. Much branched, spreading, tangled form. Prune after flowering. Attractive to bees and butterflies.

Native to China.

Introduced in 1796 by Sir Joseph Banks.
