Groundcover. Semi-evergreen, moderate to rapid grower. Spreads by rhizomes. Tolerates wet soils. Yellow flowers in spring through summer.
Native to eastern and central US, including South Carolina and Georgia.
First published in Sp. Pl. 2: 290 in 1753.
I received a clump from a friend and planted it in the courtyard. It spread slowly. In autumn 2011 I planted some of it in the Almost Shade Garden where is has thrived. In spring 2012 I planted another division in the Turret Front Garden.
