Description: 

Glossy green leaves with camphor smell when crushed. Inconspicuous yellow flowers followed by small black berries. Rounded form, dense. Fruit can stain. The leaves, twigs and fruit provide camphor.

History: 

Published in Prir. Rostlin 2: 47 in 1825.

Basionym Laurus camphora L.

Native to Japan and Taiwan.
