Clinopodium georgianum 'Desi Arnez'

Georgia Savory

Family: Lamiaceae

Genus: Clinopodium

Parent: Clinopodium georgianum

Category: Shrub - Evergreen

Zones: 7 to 9

Size: 15 to 18" tall and wide

Exposure: Sun, Filtered Sun, Part Shade

Narrow aromatic evergreen foliage on upright stems. Pink flowers in late summer to autumn. Well-drained soil.

Introduced by Woodlanders of uncertain parentage, possibly Clinopodium georgianum x Conradina sp. According to Bob McCartney of Woodlanders: Barbara Bridges in Mississippi seems to have given it the name 'Desi Arnez' by which it is now known in the Gulf States.

My Experience:

I purchased a 1-gallon plant in May 2010 from Woodlanders and planted it in the back near the BlueBird House. It remained tidier than the species but bloomed only sparingly the first year. It died over the winter 2013.
