Coreopsis incisa Ker Gawl.

Family: Compositae

Genus: Coreopsis

History:

First published in Bot. Reg. 1: 7 in 1815.

Basionym of Bidens incisa (Ker Gawl.) G.Don.

First published in Bot. Reg. 1: 7 in 1815. Three very nearly related, but distinct species, seem to have been confounded under Coreopsis reptans. First, the Linnean plant (C. reptans)... second, that of Sloane's work... third, our present incisa, where the leaves are all either quinate or tenate, deeply cut, and the ray of the flower pointed and quite entire.

A native of Jamaica, and perhaps of other parts of the West Indies. Messrs. Colville, to whom this introduction is due, have no recollection of whence they obtained the seed from which it was raised.
