Family: Amaryllidaceae

Genus: Crinum

Category: Bulb

Zones: 8 to 10

Size: To 2' tall

Exposure: Sun, Filtered Sun, Part Shade

Description:

Purple leaves. Jenks Farmer says it doesn't flower much and Augusta is the northern edge of its range. Likes wet soil - but don't let the crown stand in water. Ted Stephens says it is one of the most cold hardy purple leaf crinums and overwinters best in water.

My Experience:

I purchased a 2-quart plant from Nurseries Caroliniana in April 2012 and planted it in the 'In Between Garden'. There was a very late frost after planting it and the leaves browned but it came back from the base. I moved it to the Pool Lawn Border in April 2013.
