Description: 

Compact, flat-topped mound. Foliage is bright green to blue-green in summer and purple-red in winter. Abundant small cones. Moist, well-drained soil.

History: 

Introduced in 1881 from China. A sport of 'Elegans'.

I purchased a 1-gallon plant from Mike Francis at Japanese Maples and Conifers (Maple Ridge) in June 2011 and planted it in the Gumball Border Garden.
