Description: 

Flowers in autumn in cooler climates, tubular red and green flowers along the top part of the stems. Upright stems with dark green linear foliage, opposite, narrow. longer at the base of the stems than at the top. Evergreen and blooming intermittently throughout the year in frost-free zones. Attractive to hummingbirds. Slow to return in spring but hardy to 8F according to Allan Armitage.

My Experience: 

I saw this in full bloom in December outside Nurseries Caroliniana. I finally purchased one in April 2013 at Plantapalooza in Athens. The deer loved it so I moved it to the Pool Lawn Border.
