Description: 

Blooms autumn to spring on a short inflorescence, no fragrance, close set flowers to 3.5" diameter.

History: 

Published in Gard. Chron., ser. 3 35(1): 387 in 1904.

Native to Thailand, Vietnam and China.

Also published in Bot. Mag. 136: 8312 in 1910. According to Bronckart's field note the plant as met with by him is always terrestrial; the spikes in wild plants are from 3 to 4 1/2 ft. in length and bear each from ten to fifteen light-red flowers.
