Matt blue-green foliage. Dense compact form with cascading layered habit. Flowers are red in clusters along the stems in winter, not individually significant but a good splash of color at that time of year. Disease and insect resistant. Heat tolerant, drought tolerant and accept wet soils.

Bred by Dr. Michael Dirr at UGA and introduced by Plant Introductions under the Gardener's Confidence label (McCorkles). Hybrid between Distylium myricoides and Distylium racemosum.

My Experience:

I purchased a 3-gallon plant from McCorkles in September 2011 and planted it in the Golf Course Hedge. In spring 2013 the new growth was a bronze purple coolr.
