Description: 

Matt blue-green foliage. Dense compact form with cascading layered habit. Flowers are red in clusters along the stems in winter, not individually significant but a good splash of color at that time of year. Disease and insect resistant. Heat tolerant, drought tolerant and accept wet soils.

History: 

Bred by Dr. Michael Dirr at UGA and introduced by Plant Introductions under the Gardener's Confidence label (McCorkles). Hybrid between Distylium myricoides and Distylium racemosum.

My Experience: 

I purchased a 3-gallon plant from McCorkles in September 2011 and planted it in the Golf Course Hedge. In spring 2013 the new growth was a bronze purple coolr.
