Description: 

Evergreen. Vase-shaped. New fronds are coppery, maturing to glossy green. Plant in spring while fiddleheads still emerging. Medium to wet soil, prefers rich organic soil. Spread slowly by rhizomes.

History: 

Published in Revis. Gen. Pl. 2: 812 in 1891.

Basionym Aspidium erythrosorum D.C.Eaton.

Native to China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and the Philippines.
