Smooth leaves, not hairy, otherwise similar to Echinacea purpurea.

Pale pink flowers with deep purple centers from June to October.

Endangered species.

History: 

Published in J. Wash. Acad. Sci. 19: 273 in 1929.

Basionym is Brauneria laevigata C.L.Boynton & Beadle

Native to the southeastern US.

Found near Seneca, SC.

Reveal (2009) lists Catesby's Natural History Volume II Plate 59 as E. laevigata.
