Description: 

Lance-shaped leaves, prominent veins, red tubular flowers.

History: 

Published in Char. Gen. Pl. 8 in 1775.

Native to Chile.

Also published in Cult. Prot. 125 in 1809. This beautiful shrub grows wild in Terra del Fuego... Cavanilles' figure, above quoted, is very inaccurate. Leaves elliptic, quite entire.
