Synonym is Epidendrum umbellatum Sw.

Native to South America and the Caribbean.

From Bot. Reg. (E. umbellatum) A native of the West Indies, where it grows on the trunks of trees, sometimes horizontally, sometimes perpendicularly downwards. Introduced in 1793 by Rear-admiral William Bligh, in the Providence.
