Description: 

Dark green foliage to 4" long, 2" wide, opposite or in whorls of three, lighter below, leathery. Terminal flowers, fragrant, white, in spring to summer, sometimes repeating in early autumn. Problems with powdery mildew, scale, aphids, whiteflies. Yellowing of leaves caused by hard water, lack or iron or too alkaline soil.

Native to China, Taiwan, Japan and Vietnam.

Synonym is Gardenia radicans Thunb. Also Gardenia augusta (L.) Merr., Gardenia florida L., Varneria augusta L.
