Description: 

Conical crown with lower more horizontal branches. Leaves light green, brown in autumn. On long shoots the leaves are scale-like, on short shoots more needle-like. Grows in river banks, ponds and swamps and has air roots growing from the lateral roots.

History: 

Native to China and Vietnam.

Published in Dendrologie 2(2): 191 in 1873.

Basionym: Thuja pensilis Staunton ex D.Don. - published in Descr. Pinus.

I purchased a 1-gallon plant at Woodlanders in April 2014 and planted it in the Mail Box Garden.
