Description: 

Long slender pseudobulbs with two hard leaves. Bright orange flowers in clusters from sheaths between the leaves. Blooms in spring.

History: 

Published in Lankesteriana 7: 38 in 2003.

Basionym Epidendrum aurantiacum Bateman ex Lindl.

Native to Guatemala and Mexico.

Synonym Cattleya aurantiaca (Bateman ex Lindl.) P.N.Don - often referred to by this name.

Relatives: 

Hybridizing Characteristics: 

Hybrids tend to have no fragrance. Dominates in flower shape, habit, number of flowers, strong color, slightly cupped flowers. Most are spring bloomers. (Hereditary Influences of the Cattleya Alliance - AOS.org)
