Description: 

Most popular of the Witchhazels. Multi-stemmed, large shrub or small tree. Alternate, simple leaves, roundish, dull medium green. Yellow autumn color. Yellow, fragrant, fringe-like flowers in February to March.

History: 

Native to China. First published in Hooker's Icon. Pl. 18: 1742 in 1888.

Introduced by Charles Maries in 1879. RHS Award of Garden Merit 2002 for vegetatively propagated plants only, First Class Certificate 1918.
