Description: 

Attaches itself to walls or trees with aerial roots. The leaves on the climbing shoots are different from those on the mature (fertile, flowering) shoots. Leaves on climbing shoots are lobed (3 to 5), those of the mature shoots, entire, ovate to rhomboidal. Greenish yellow flowers, fleshy black fruit.

Grows almost anywhere and considered to have invasive tendencies. Almost impossible to get rid of it.

All parts of the plant are poisonous.

History: 

Published in SP. Pl. 1: 202 in 1753.

Native to Europe, northern Africa, Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey and the Caucasus.
