Description: 

Erect shrub to small tree. Leaves alternate, simle, to 4" long, coarsely toothed, dark green. Flowers to 4" diameter, trumpet-shaped, from summer to autumn. Can be red, white, purple, pink and some are two-toned. Late to leaf out in spring. Flowers on new growth. Prefers moist, well-drained soil.

Existed in England in the late 16th century.
