History: 

Published in Suppl. Pl. 197 in 1782.

Synonym of Spiloxene capensis (L.) Garside

Also published in Bot. Repos. 2: 101 in 1800: is a native of the Cape of Good Hope, is rather a tender bulb, and does not often flower. It was according to the Kew Catalogue first introduced to the Royal Gardens bv Mr. F. Masson, in the year 1788...
