Description: 

Foliage plant - red stems and purple-red leaves, oval. Moist well-drained soil. Pinch to promote bushier growth. Stem cuttings will root easily.

History: 

Published in Gard. Chron. 654 in 1864.

Native to Brazil.

My Experience: 

I purchased a 4" pot in July 2013 at Nurseries Caroliniana and planted it in a pot with other tropicals. It got cold before I put it in the conservatory and did not come back.
